The moon is a guiding light in the universe, showing us our way. It gives us clues on when to pursue our dreams and when to sit back and reflect. You’ve certainly noticed how its appearance changes over the course of time, but you may not know what these changes actually mean. Here’s your guide to the moon phases and how each phase has the potential to affect our lives:
- New Moon
The new moon is the beginning of the moon cycle. We can’t see it, but we can certainly feel its presence. This is the time to set intentions for new beginnings. It’s also the time to reflect on progress you’ve made previously and figure out any changes you need to make in your life.
- Waxing crescent
The waxing crescent is the time to begin working on those intentions. Taking baby steps in the right direction during this time will set you down the path to success.
- First quarter
Now is the time to take a big step toward that goal. The energy of the first quarter gives you the push so that you’re ready to risk it all if necessary.
- Waxing gibbous
The waxing gibbous is a time for re-evaluating: what’s gone right so far? What’s gone wrong? What can you change, and what do you have to simply accept? Let your answers be a steady guide.
- Full moon
This is one of the most important phases in the moon cycle. It’s a time when you’ll see your goal start to come to fruition if you’ve been putting in the necessary effort. This can be exciting or scary depending on your mindset! The work isn’t over yet, but if you begin seeing the changes you desire, it’s a sure sign that you’re headed in the right direction.
- Waning gibbous
If you’ve begun achieving success, this phase will help you to keep your motivation up-and if you still haven’t seen the changes you want, the energy of the waning gibbous pushes you not to give up just yet!
- Last quarter
This is a time to step back and be honest with yourself-if you’ve achieved your goal, are you truly happy with the results? Or is there more you need to work on? If you haven’t, is it what you truly wanted in the first place? Or is there something else that you needed all along? Don’t hold back-this is a time for revealing the truth, even if it is painful.
- Waning crescent
Ah, finally a moment to relax! Sit back and reflect on the fruits of all your efforts over the past month. This is definitely the perfect time for self care: a long yoga session followed by some relaxing meditation, soaking in a bubble bath, or taking some time to yourself out in nature. All you need to do for this phase is rest: you’ve earned it! The moon phase will be a time to start anew with different goals.
