What does it mean when a planet is “out of bounds?” You may not have heard this term before-it’s a bit of an astrological wildcard!
When a planet moves more than 23 degrees either North or South of the equator, astrologers refer to it as “out of bounds.” How does that affect us? Well, things can get a little crazy-it can literally push us out of bounds, just as the name suggests. This can be a positive thing, and we might notice heightened creativity or a desire to get out of our comfort zone. But it can also increase abnormal or destructive behaviors.
Mars went out of bounds on August 8 and will remain out of bounds until October 30. Read on to find out what this means for you:
- You’ll be feeling inspired.
Remember how one of the positive effects of a planet going out of bounds is heightened creativity? During this time, the energy of Mars will have us rushing to grab our pens, paintbrushes, musical instruments, cameras, you name it! Your creative energy will practically be overflowing.
- Increased “masculine energy.”
Mars out of bounds can cause you to be more assertive-or even aggressive. These are traits that our society often associates with masculinity, and even if you’re normally quite shy and act more “feminine”, you may notice yourself acting very differently during this time.
- You might be more selfish-and it doesn’t have to be a bad thing.
Mars is known for influencing us to put ourselves first, and when it goes out of bounds, this effect is magnified. Achieving balance here is absolutely key. Being selfish can be a great thing, despite the word’s negative connotations. It’s good to do what makes you happy, treat yourself, and live your life in a way that makes you feel fulfilled. Just don’t neglect the needs of others around you, or put others down to lift yourself up.
- You won’t feel trapped by society’s “rules.”
Suddenly, you care less what people think. It’s freeing-and scary. You don’t want to play by the rules. You don’t even want to live on the edge-you want to jump right off and see where you land. People might be confused by these sudden changes in you, but don’t let anyone bring you down. It’s good to break down the walls and live as you want to.
- You might deal with physical or emotional difficulties.
When Mars goes out of bounds, it can really push us to our limits. This can manifest itself in a variety of ways-we may push our bodies too hard physically, we may turn to alcohol or drugs, we may feel like an emotional wreck, we may lash out at people around us. During this time, self care is more important than ever. Reflecting on your feelings, meditating, spending time alone or out in nature, and taking it easy are all essential for your well being while Mars is out of bounds.
