It’s almost that time of year again-the time where you write down a list of New Year’s resolutions that you probably won’t accomplish. But there’s a key to figuring out how to create a successful resolution, and it’s hidden in the stars. That’s right, you can actually use astrology to help you set resolutions that you’ll actually stick to. Of course, the stars can’t do it all. Even if you have a little cosmic help on your side, you still have to stick to your goals and put in the work. But if you use the universe as your guide, it will definitely send you in the right direction and help you stay on track.
Do you have to be an astrologer to figure out what the universe has in store for you next year and what resolutions you should try to accomplish? Absolutely not! Here’s how anyone can use astrology to set their resolutions.
- Be realistic.
Go over your birth chart if you haven’t already. Pay special attention your sun, moon, and rising sign, and any other areas where you notice that the cosmos have had a strong influence on you. Keep all this information in mind as you come up with your resolutions-certain signs might have extra difficulty with certain resolutions. For example, Pisces might have no trouble sticking with “Set aside some time each week to pursue a creative project,” whereas Capricorn would find this more challenging. Don’t avoid challenging resolutions, but do keep in mind that some may be tougher than others, and prepare accordingly.
- Look at your horoscope for the year.
Lucky for you, astrologers pore a ton of time and effort into creating yearly horoscopes for each sign each December! Read a few predictions before setting resolutions and use them to plan. For instance, if many horoscopes predict that you’ll achieve some financial success, set a goal to save a certain amount of money each month so that you don’t waste it. If there’s a good chance that you’ll experience some heartbreak, resolve to practice self-care regularly so that if it does happen, you’ll be emotionally prepared.
- Plan around important cosmic events.
Keep track of new moons, full moons, eclipses, and other cosmic happenings that are known to have a big impact on us, such as Mercury retrograde. These events can all interfere with even the best laid plans-they can sometimes give you a push in the right direction, but if you’re not careful, they can send you into a tailspin. Mark these types of events down on a calendar, and consider how they might affect you and your goals. For example, if your resolution is to travel to a certain number of countries, you might want to be careful that your travel dates don’t occur during Mercury retrograde! Furthermore, using the moon cycle as “check in” points along your path to success can help you reflect on what you’ve done so far, what you’re doing in the present, and what you need to do in the future.
