Everyone needs a few fire signs in their life. Whether you’re best friend is a bold, extroverted Leo, or your boyfriend is a free-spirited Aries, or your sister is an adventurous Sagittarius, fire signs always bring a little spark into your life. They’re fun to be around, they’re down for anything, and you never have to question their beliefs-they speak their minds, no matter what.
We’ve all got a little bit of that fire in us, but fire signs bring it a new level. Each fire sign is very different and unique in their own ways, but they all bring that same special something to the table. They celebrate themselves, unapologetically. But if you’ve ever gotten into an argument with a fire sign, you know there a few things you should NEVER say to them. Here are five things you should never say to a fire sign.
- “You can’t do that.”
Oh, you’ve definitely misspoken. Because the only thing your fiery friend thinks when you tell them this is, “Oh yeah? Watch me!” Fire signs see this kind of statement as a challenge. If anything, it will motivate them even more. They love to prove people wrong, so if you tell a fire sign they can’t do something, chances are, they’re going to do it.
- “Will you just calm down?”
Fire signs can get pretty intense about their emotions. And what separates them from other signs in this regard is the fact that they really put their emotions out there. They’re not shy about their feelings-they may not like admitting that they’ve been hurt, but they can’t help but wear their hearts on their sleeve. You can’t just tell them to calm down-they need that space to process everything they’re feeling.
- “You’re getting all worked up over nothing.”
Whatever it is, it’s not “nothing,” and that phrasing will not go over well with a fire sign. When they get worked up over something, it’s because it really does matter to them. And yes, whatever it is might seem small and silly to you, but to them, it’s important. Minimizing the issue won’t actually help anything.

Unless it’s for a funeral, they’re not listening. Fire signs tend to have a very bold sense of style, and there’s nothing wrong with that! It’s just how they are. As long as what they’re wearing is appropriate-as in, it’s not too skimpy at a formal occasion, just let it go. It’s not worth battling over-seriously.

Fire signs don’t know the meaning of “just letting go.” They hold on to everything until its got claw marks in it. If they have a negative person in their life that they can’t imagine living without, you just have to let them figure it out on their own. They need that time and space to process their true feelings and learn how to live without this person, even if they’re clearly toxic.
